Terms of use
A tool, not a doctor.
Version 1, effective 3 October 2026. Applies to the Hydrately app for iPhone and Android.
The short version
- Your goal is an estimate, not a prescription. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or were told to limit fluids, follow your doctor.
- Drinking too much water in a short time can be dangerous. Never force yourself to drink to reach a goal or keep a streak.
- How much you drink is your own decision and your own responsibility.
These terms apply to your use of Hydrately, an app by Maximized Studio, based in the Netherlands (“we”). By agreeing in the app, or by using it, you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use Hydrately.
1. What Hydrately is
Hydrately is a tool for logging what you drink and for reminding you to drink. It is for general wellness and information only. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.
2. Not medical advice
Nothing in Hydrately is medical advice. Daily goals, pace, boosts, reminders, streaks, and insights are general estimates, worked out from what you enter and, if you allow it, from Apple Health or Health Connect data. They do not know your health, and they can be wrong. Ask a doctor or another qualified health professional how much you should drink, and never ignore or delay their advice because of something the app shows.
3. Ask a doctor first
Talk to a doctor before you follow Hydrately’s goals if you:
- have a kidney, heart, or liver condition;
- have been told to limit fluids or salt;
- are pregnant or breastfeeding;
- take medication that affects how your body holds water, such as diuretics;
- have or have had an eating disorder; or
- do endurance sport.
Hydrately is not meant for children under 13. If you are under 18, use it together with a parent or guardian.
4. Drink safely
Drinking too much water, especially in a short time, can be dangerous and in rare cases fatal (water intoxication, also called hyponatremia). Never force yourself to drink in order to reach a goal, catch up when you are behind, keep a streak, or answer a reminder. Listen to your body. Stop drinking and get medical help straight away if you feel unwell, for example with nausea, headache, confusion, or swelling. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
5. Your responsibility
What, when, and how much you drink is your own decision. You use Hydrately at your own risk, and you are responsible for checking that a goal suits you. You are also responsible for the accuracy of what you enter.
6. No warranty
Hydrately is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that goals, reminders, or any other information in the app are accurate, complete, or right for you, or that the app will work without interruption or error.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Maximized Studio and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any personal injury, illness, or loss, arising from your use of Hydrately or from relying on anything it shows. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50, whichever is higher.
Some places do not allow some of these limits. There they apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing in these terms takes away consumer rights that cannot be waived.
8. App store licences and your privacy
On iPhone, your licence to use the app is Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. On Android, your use of the app is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. These apply alongside these terms. How your data is handled is described in the privacy policy.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. The current version is always published here. When they change in a way that matters, Hydrately asks you to agree again in the app. Questions: email apps@maximized.studio.
